Posjeta rezidentne predstavnice Razvojnog programa Ujedinjenih nacija (UNDP) gđe. Steliane Nedere Zavodu za bolesti ovisnosti

U utorak, 9.07.2019. godine gđa. Steliana Nedera koja je imenovana za regionalnu predstavnicu UNDP u Bosni i Hercegovini je posjetila Zavod za bolesti ovisnosti Kantona Sarajevo.

Zavod za bolesti ovisnosti sarađuje sa UNDP duži niz godina na projektu “Održivi odgovor s ciljem smanjenja ovisnosti u Bosni i Hercegovini” kroz koji UNDP obezbjeđuje neophodne lijekove i skrining testove za korisnike usluga Zavoda koji se nalaze na terapiji metadonskog održavanja (MST).

Tokom posjete razgovaralo se od dosadašnjoj saradnji i podršci UNDP-a centrima za tretman ovisnosti u Bosni i Hercegovini kao i mogućnostima proširenja podrške u smislu poboljšanja trenutnog sistema monitoringa i zastupanja u proširenju kapaciteta ili diseminaciji OST centara na više opština, kako bi usluge bile dostupnije korisnicima uz rasterećenje postojećeg punkta i lokalne zajednice.

The Institute for Addiction Diseases of Sarajevo Canton is collaborating with UNDP on “Sustainable Response for Reducing Drug Dependence” allowing UNDP to supply Institute with the essential medicaments and drug tests, for app. 320 patients/year on methadone treatment (OST), with costs reduced by 50%.

Ms. Nedeira reiterated the fact that drug dependence treatment centers in Sarajevo, Mostar and Zenica are offering a high-quality prevention and therapeutic services for some 850 ex- drug users as a key element of public health approach to drug use disorders in F BiH, and an excellent example of such work in the Region.  It was concluded that the effective drug dependence treatment and harm reduction services performed in Sarajevo Canton have a positive impact on local community, considering that after the introduction of the effective treatment services (including pharmacological treatment); crime related behavior (namely theft and violence), particularly that associated with the inability to purchase drugs, is significantly reduced.

Talking with M.D. Ph.D. Ms. Nermana Mehic Basara, UNDP RR expressed willingness to extend coverage of UNDP supporting services by improving present Monitoring System for patients on treatment and by advocating for the expansion/dissemination of Opiate Substitution Treatment Centers’ facilities to more Municipalities, in order OST services to be closer to the patients. UNDP and partners are planning various activities targeted to health policy change, with commitment to further support sustainable response to addiction diseases in BiH.
